Aladdin competed with modern forms, construction and composition of new lamps during the 1950s. Pottery, metal, wire and unusual paper shades were formed into lamps some collectors consider “ugly” today. Aladdin created “Magic Touch Lamps,” 1954-1956, that turned on or off by touch. These electronic collectibles were 20 years ahead of their time; but that describes many Aladdin lamps from the past 50 to 75 years!
